Montana My Muse

In 2006 I drifted into Montana from a trip which started in the Grand Staircase Escalante. It was winter as I drove into Butte, Montana and began to photograph its streets and abandoned mines. Driving north toward Great Falls I noticed out my right window the Missouri River which was the water trial of Lewis & Clark. It also became my path to the Montana landscape which I have returned to examine often with an 8×10″ view camera. The most interesting part of Montana for me are the eastern plains. For the few weeks I have had to photograph there, I have made the towns of  Winnett, Geraldine, Roundup, Havre, Winifred and Fort Benton my home.
